This is the SECOND time I’ve seen this guy driving around with his high beams on during the day. And the last time it was dry and sunny.
Do people just like having all kinds of lights on thier dash? Does he think its safer? Its a younger driver, a male in his 30's I think. I should get his plate and run it so I can see where he lives so I can ask him in person “Y THO??”

I’m surprised it wasn’t a Nissan Rogue. They blind me more than all other cars combined.

Why buy HIDs when I can just drive around with my hi-beams on all the time?

New Fords are pissing me off.... they have the WORST cut off of any headlight. Especially on curvy roads.

Flashing them does nothing.
And the people driving before sunrise or after dusk with NO lights (or at least DRLs) at all? I’d say it’s 70/30 that they ignore the vehicle coming at them with headlights blinking on and off.... where’s all the damn cops when you need them?

There’s a guy around here with an old Tahoe that had HIDs JUST IN HIS FOGS. Its the worst thing ever. I flashed him once for blinding me, and he flashed his high beams back.
And they were STILL less bright than his fogs!

I absolutely hate light bars being on on a highway. Blinds the shit out of you. I feel like tinting my windows so I never have to see these yahoos ever again. Never mind. Not tinting. Paint over my windows so I see no one. When I change lanes, I will ram right into these fuck faces. I’m blinded by their lightbars.

I see very few of those actually being used. Last time it snowed I went out during it and some XJ driver thought he was off road in the woods and had his on, but he crossed in front of me and didn’t blind me.

I’ve seen a few of those this week. One just after sunset so I kinda let them slide, but one driver in an older Escape at 8pm, in a line of traffic waiting for a red light. No lights at all. SMH.

What a jerk. I was having similar musings the other day about low beams.

That’s probably illegal in most states, that’s partly why KCs and Hellas have covers.

I’ve done it in the daylight because my high beam is a different filament, and at nights I mostly just use the low beams, so the high gets very little use. Get’s a little more life out of the bulbs, probably. And it’s daylight, so your pupils should be contracted already so it shouldn’t be blinding.

I see probably a couple 18-wheelers on my way home that have those stupid light bars mounted at the base of their front bumper. The hatred level is high over that.

I agree, newer headlights are just Too Damn Bright. Looking at YOU, Ford, and others using LED lamps.
And people are dumber. They see their gauges lit up and think their lights are on.
Or they are confused by the different ideograms for parking lights, fogs, and high beams, so they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing and have any combination of them on at improper times.

As it rightfully should be. Too friggin bright. I know that is the point of a lighting system... but out in public it’s blinding.

I’m sorry. Around here they must be smart enough to wire them to their high-beams, and only use them appropriately.

There’s a possibility he thinks he has auto-dim on the truck, but does not. The owners manual is very vague about that actually. It comes off implying that all models have it when they actually don’t
Or maybe he does have auto-dim but it’s not functioning properly. I ran into that with an F150 driver a month or so ago. They were happily tooling down the freeway, LED brights doing me a blind in the middle of the day. We got off at the same exit, I pulled up beside them and said “Hey your brights are on!” He sez to me, he sez “but I have auto-brights, are you sure?” I reply “Yeah breh you’ve got four lights all lit up on that truck and you’ve been blinding me for miles.” Light turns green and about 1/8 mile down the road I see him finally figure it out and kill his brights
Or maybe he’s just a toolbag

I’m going with the latter.
We have auto-dim in the Durango and it works great. Its good at sensing oncoming headlights.
I don’t think its an option on the Express, which I believe this is. You probably got to step up to projector lamps for that. Maybe.

I’m pretty sure the type of person who drives with a light bar on on a non-empty roadway is the type of person who takes enjoyment from knowing that they are bothering others. Flashing your high-beams probably makes their day.

I flashed my high beams at someone who had their lights off the other night. The car next to them at the light flashed back, but the car with no lights did nothing.
A more rewarding experience was when I flashed a Mercedes with no lights. They didn’t respond, but as soon as the light turned green and they started moving, the police car behind them (which I hadn’t noticed initially) lit up and pulled them over.

I don’t know what changed between the halogens and LEDs that make people think it’s ok to use them. I’ve never seen somebody use the round halogens, and only one LED, but it sounds like more people think it’s ok to use the LEDs.

We had a bunch of people driving in a snowstorm down here without lights that somehow didn’t get killed. Visibility was under 50ft in some places.

Yep. I see at least 2 cars every night rolling around in pitch black with no headlights. Either that, or their high beams are constantly on and blinding the shit out of me. It’s absolutely mind boggling how stupid and/or oblivious people can be.
